An A-rated school for ascending young minds. Ponce De Leon Middle School is a public school for grades six to eight that has a wide variety of programs for every child. Apart from being in the Miami-Dade County Magnet program, there is the reading program S.T.R.I.V.E, and a gifted program. There is also a full-time Bertha Abbess unit for students with emotional disabilities. Community outreach is a schoolwide effort through programs such as The Casserole Project which feeds the homeless. The school itself has a free lunch program for students who qualify. Located in Coral Gables, it is right on US 1, allowing accessibility from either Coconut Grove, Coral Gables or South Miami.
